In relation to this, a recent paper published in Fertility and Sterility (98; 1470-1473, 2012) described a case of portal vein thrombosis, a serious medical problem, after in-vitro fertilisation in a 39-year-old woman. The authors concluded that “thromboembolic events are a rare complication of assisted reproductive technology (ART).
